Dear Friends:

Here's the info for the meeting of the

Alliance of Neighborhood Councils

The Citywide Alliance of Neighborhood Councils

May 21, 2009

Colleagues:

At 9:30 am Saturday, May 23, 2009, we will start our next Alliance Forum in the Faculty and Staff Center at Los Angeles City College.

We'll first review how the response to the Budget crisis brought the Budget Committee to return to the $45,000 level and how that approach could be replicated, if needed, in the future.

Then we will turn our attention to the influence of Neighborhood Councils on the future look and feel of the City.

We'll first listen to Gail Goldberg with her vision, then Emily Gabel-Luddy with her urban design concepts.

These two will be followed by Cynthia Ruiz offering how Public Works such as Community Beautification, Sanitation, Street Lighting, and Street Services can be responsive to Neighborhood Council needs.

Finally, Jay Kim will discuss using the City's public right-of-way resources to improve the visual character of our communities.

Of course after their short presentations, you may ask questions related to your interests.

Then, lunch.

The forum is free and open to all Neighborhood Council stakeholders and we encourage each NC to have at least one representative at the meeting.  For more information see our website at www.allncs.org. Please circulate this notice to other stakeholders who may be interested.

Please note that the new parking structure on Heliotrope just north of Melrose is now open. Coming north on Heliotrope from Melrose, pull into "Lot 3 - Faculty and Staff  Parking". See our website for more information.

See you Saturday,

The Steering Committee of the Citywide Alliance of Neighborhood Councils .
