Here's all about the:

Coalition Meeting

Hi there,

At our next meeting, Saturday, June 7th, we will have the pleasure of introducing DWP GM David Nahai, new DONE GM BongHwan Kim and the head of Planning's Urban Design Studio, Emily Gabel Luddy.  Mr. Nahai will be there to introduce himself to NCs and let us know of some of his plans.  This will be the chance for NCs to ask general questions, or specific ones if you please, about the DWP and Mr. Nahai's plans for the future.  We might even get him to discuss his thoughts on the relationship between NCs  and the DWP.

Bonghwan Kim will be joining us again, this time to talk about the affect of the budget on DONE and it relationship with NCs.  Just what is it the NCs will want from this new slimmed down DONE is a question we might explore with BongHwan.  This discussion may well generate new ideas that we can take back to our NCs.

What's an Urban Design Studio?  It's all about how we might grow our communities in a way that makes them more functional by integrating different aspects of development.  How can commercial, residential and transportation related functions come together to make a better city?  That's some of the things we can talk about when we engage Emily Gabel Luddy in conversation about this revolutionary idea about how Los Angeles of tomorrow will grow out of the Los Angeles of today.  These will be real ideas we can take back to our NC Land Use and Planning Committees where they can be applied in our own communities.

Remember the non-profit organization that was established to help the LANCC raise and spend money?  Well, it's still there; it's just not doing anything.  Should it remain active?  Can it be of help to NCs in general or should we allow it to go inactive?  There was some thought that it could serve as a recipient of outside money to benefit all NCs throughout the city.  Is that still a good idea?  If so, how do we go about using the non-profit to our benefit?  Come with ideas on what we should do with the UNCOLA.  Our own Jeff Jacobberger will be there to lead fill us in on its current status and where it might go from here.

See you all Saturday June 7th at the DWP Cafeteria.  We will start at our regular time of 10:00 AM.  Don't forget the DWP OSC will meet the same morning, June 7th, at 9:00 in the DWP Auditorium.  Plan to be at the OSC meeting first and then come to the LANCC.
Watch for our regular agenda at the beginning of next week.
