Dear Friends:
The Citywide Issues Group usually convenes immediately following the
Alliance
of Neighborhood Councils Forum.
Please
see the invite and info below:
Here's the info for the meeting of the
Alliance of Neighborhood
Councils

The Citywide Alliance of Neighborhood Councils has been holding bi-monthly informational forums for NC leaders at LA City College for over five years. Our mission is to provide information and share expertise among the Neighborhood Council movement across Los Angeles.
The Alliance will be holding the next Neighborhood Council Forum in the Faculty Center at Los Angeles City College (on Vermont Ave., 1 Block north of Melrose in East Hollywood) on Saturday, November 18th from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm.
As many of you know, Neighborhood Councils were very active in the campaign against Proposition R, the initiative which recently passed which allows city council members to serve three terms instead of two. We will be holding a roundtable discussion about the lessons learned from that experience. We are very pleased to have both Jason Lyon from the Silver Lake NC and Jeff Jacobberger from the Mid City West NC, leaders of the NOT PROP R campaign along with Ken Draper from CityWatch as panelists. Greg Nelson will moderate. This figures to be a very lively debate that is in the interest of all Neighborhood Councils across the City.
Following the discussion on the aftermath of Prop. R, Raphael Sonenshein, the Executive Director of the Neighborhood Council (912) Review Commission, will join us to provide an update on the Commission's activities, goals and timetable, including the interaction between the Commission and Neighborhood Councils. Again, we all recognize the importance of the Review Commission's findings as they relate to the future of Neighborhood Councils. Every NC should be represented for this discussion.
We'll open our session with our usual open microphone followed by dialogue with Lisa Sarno, Interim General Manager of DONE.
Given the importance of the issues we will be discussing, we encourage each and every NC to participate at the meeting on the 18th. Please pass this invitation along to other Board members and stakeholders in your NC area. Everyone is welcome to attend. For directions, parking instructions and more information please see our website at www.allncs.org.
See you there,
Noah Modisett
