Here's
a little about us:
A little history ...
Report
from our meeting, Saturday, September 18
Thanks to all who attended today's meeting of the Citywide Issues
Group at LACC. I believe that about 16 or 18 people in all participated.
We met after the Alliance of Neighborhood Councils meeting, which
started at 9:30 AM and continued until slightly after 1 PM. We
went on for about 65 minutes in total and made several important
decisions. Steve Twining kept notes and has the more detailed
minutes, but the meeting was so productive that it is worthwhile
mentioning some of the highlights.
We
discussed the proposed disbanding of the city Park Rangers unit
and agreed that a message will go out to all NC's shortly. The
specific wording of a proposal was agreed to, with the proponents
of the motion agreeing to supply supporting text. More to follow
. . .
We
will be placing information on our web site regarding Brown Act
violations and who to contact in order to file a complaint.
We
discussed the inclusionary zoning issue briefly. Since this issue
is already before the nc's, we took no further action other than
to remark that our web site contains discussions and documentation.
We
discussed the issue of location filming on city streets and parks,
and what the city council is not doing to protect its residents.
We will be inviting the ad hoc working group (not officially part
of any neighborhood council structure as yet) to offer wording
on a motion to be circulated to NC's.
We
discussed the next Congress of Neighborhoods and how we will participate.
We intend to use the breakout session to acquaint people with
who we are and what we do. Several people agreed to participate,
to create a flier and perhaps a power point presentation.
We
also agreed that it is now time for us to start holding issues
forums on a regular basis. We agreed that every other month is
our target to begin with. A volunteer will be checking on time
and space availability for the upcoming forum. More to follow
. . .
Again,
thanks to all who participated.
